The volume of a stere of stacked wood, when cut to 30cm lengths, is 0.7m3. When the wood is cut to a length of 50cm, the volume of a stere of wood is 0.8m3.
The shorter the firewood is cut, the better it stacks, with fewer gaps between the logs. The apparent volume decreases, but the quantity of wood remains the same.
